Barely a Bookstore…. but much more!

As I think through my goals for Journey Books, I realize that while I love books, and curriculum, and all things “office supply” (tell me I’m not the only one!), that is not where my strongest passion is. I am most excited about supporting Moms! Maybe they come by to look at a curriculum they’re curious about, or check out some books they think their child might enjoy. We’ve all been there, haven’t we? When we know we need something different for Math, for Language Arts, or for Science, and a friend has recommended this great resource she used with her children. So, we go online and try to get a feel for it, but it’s so hard to tell. I hope that Mom will call me and ask what I have in stock, come in and sit down, talk about that curriculum and others, and share ideas of what she has enjoyed teaching or struggled to stick with. I hope to be a resource to those Moms, as well as a resource for the physical transactions of selling books from one family to another.

I have my own experiences from over 10 years of homeschooling. BUT, I also have a lot of connections with people who do homeschooling differently from me. So, if you ask me about online classes for a child, I may not have much to offer from my own experience, but I know several Moms who do. And I would love to contact them for you and ask questions, get information, and help grow those connections.

I love the idea of a cute little shop with great books, curriculum choices, and some manipulatives, puzzles, and games. More than that, though, I love the idea that Moms will have a clearinghouse of sorts, where they can put their hands on some different resource options, discuss pros and cons of different choices, and build community with other homeschooling Moms also trying to make the best choices for their children. Come join the community! Bring your experiences and your questions, your passions and your frustrations. Tell us what your favorite curriculum is, and why. Tell us about resources you’d like to look at or try out. Tell us about businesses in other places you’ve lived that were particularly helpful in your homeschool experience. Let’s help each other find joy in the journey!
